Minutes of Meeting

March 19, 2009

FAIRWOOD WEST HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION

The monthly meeting of the Fairwood West Homeowners Association Board of Trustees was called to order on Thursday March 19th, 2009.  Trustees in attendance were Pat Wyre, David Mahowald, Lou Carlascio, Adrian Ryneveld, Amrik Pandher and Dan Rystrom.  Also in attendance was Barb Simeona, Association Bookkeeper and 3 homeowner’.

~ MONTHLY REMINDERS ~

Protect your possessions – keep your garage doors closed.

Please remember to park with traffic and not against it.

Minutes of Previous Meeting – The minutes from the February 2009 meeting were accepted as presented. 

Fire District 40 – There was no representative present to report.

King County Sheriff’s Report – There was no representative present to report.

Homeowner Comments – Nothing to report.

Homeowner Covenant Enforcement Appeals – One homeowner was present to request clarification on their covenant enforcement violation fine letter.

The board would like to thank the homeowner for communicating and complying with the request to clean up their yard.

Security – Adrian Ryneveld reported that he had the opportunity to ride along with Officer Sam Shirley of the King County Sheriff’s Department.  He rode during the evening daylight hours and reported that it was very informative.  The biggest items being paid attention to are parking and individuals clustering in groups.  He also spent time looking for speeding vehicles on Fairwood Blvd and noted that the slow-downs are very obvious when the patrol car is spotted.

Financial Report – The financial report was accepted as presented.

Barb spoke with the board about excessive document requests from a local real estate agent.  Lou will call the agent about the request.

Treasurers Report – Nothing new to report.

Architectural Control Report – Amrik reported that he received one letter from a homeowner that wanted to extend a driveway.  When he called them they had already completed the project.  Please remember that you must get approval before you start a project.

A homeowner was in attendance to show the board his professional plans for landscaping of his yard.  The board noted there is no construction being done and therefore approval is not needed.

A homeowner was in attendance and submitted an architectural request form for a carport.  The board will review.

Common Properties Report – Pat is in the process of obtaining bids for permanent fencing in the park.  The play equipment will also be moved.

Pat noted that there is a group of Fairwood West homeowners that has been working on the 3-way stop at 164th.  If you are interested in helping please contact Mr. Larry Hudacek at Larry.Hudacek@KingCounty.gov.

Community Events – Eileen Richard was present to report that the Easter Egg Hunt for 2-10 year olds will be Saturday April 11th from 3-4 pm in the Fairwood West Park.  Please bring your own baskets. 

The annual Garage Sale will be June 26th – June 28th from 9 am to 5 pm daily.  If you are interested in selling food or beverages at the garage sale please call Eileen at 425-223-0005.

Pride In Ownership – Nothing until April.

Covenant Enforcement – The board reviewed all the homes that were previously in process. 

6 violations were complied with in March – thank you to those homeowners !
Lou Carlascio reviewed new violations with the board.  Letters will be sent out to those homeowners.

Unfinished Business Report – Nothing new to report.

New Business Report – Lou Carlascio asked about the board insurance policy.  Once it is received, Barb will give a copy to the board.

The idea of a covenant enforcement appeals committee will be discussed at the next board meeting.

Pat noted that there is not a lot of interest in a block watch program.

The meeting adjourned at 8:40 p.m.

The next monthly meeting of the Fairwood West Homeowners Association will be held on Thursday April 16th, 2009 at 7:00 p.m., at the Nativity Lutheran Church, 17707 140th SE.  Meetings are now held in the portable building on the property.
